Simulation and Emission Analysis of a Hydrogen-powered Turbocharged Engine


This project was born out of a desire to learn more about turbomachinery design and fluid mechanics. As a chemistry and computer science student, neither of these topics are covered in my curriculum. So, I opted to create an independent study project that would challenge me to integrate both areas while applying my existing knowledge. I anticipated working with various modeling tools and wanted to gain early experience with industry-relevant software.

CFturbo was my software of choice for its beginner-friendly user interface which made it accessible even with my limited background in mechanical design. As someone previously only familiar with Ansys Electronics Desktop, CFturbo provided the ideal balance of functionality and usability, allowing me to focus on learning core turbomachinery principles without being overwhelmed.
